Childrens Trust
Children's trusts bring together organizations from across the county in order to achieve better outcomes for children and young people. The new children’s trust arrangements enable the different agencies and professionals to work in a more 'joined up' way within a partnership framework.

European Social Action Network (ESAN)
ESAN, the European Social Action Network was created in 1991 by social development and social action organisations and foundations in the European Community. It is registered under Belgian law and aims at developing co-operation between non-profit organisations working in the social field and encouraging coherent European policies based on the respect of human rights. It brings together over 70 organisations working in the social field from countries all over Europe.
New Project On Migrant Workers
The European Commission has approved an application made by Community Action Dacorum (the new working name of Dacorum CVS) through the European Year of Migrant Workers programme. The project will bring together partners from Bulgaria, Poland, Portugal, Spain and the UK to research the situation on migrant workers in each location, look at how previous migrants have settled in their new country, prepare and pilot a pre-arrival information pack, create a project website and DVD and promote through seminars and activities.
Cultural Learning
Diversity in Dacorum was celebrated in July, when more than 50 residents were recognized for sharing their culture with others. The first Dacorum Cultural Learning Awards Ceremony was held at the Old Town Hall in Hemel Hempstead. Certificates were presented by Mike Penning MP to groups and individuals from Dacorum’s Indian, Chinese, Italian, Pakistani, African and Caribbean communities. Dacorum CVS Cultural Learning Project Co-ordinator, Pasha Kincaid said ‘Learning about other cultures brings communities together and contributes to the cultural richness and diversity of Dacorum.

Herts Voluntary Sector Report (Summary)
The contribution of the voluntary sector in Hertfordshire has been measured in 2006. The purpose of the survey was to capture information to be able to demonstrate the value the sector brings to the economic, environmental and social wellbeing in the county. Hertfordshire covers ten districts and has a population of 1.1 million. Dacorum is included as one of those ten districts, with a population of 141,000. The survey has indicated that there are over 12,000 community and voluntary groups in Hertfordshire, with the most common activity being in teh areas of advice, information, training, education and leisure. The organisations contribute to the local economy and engage many volunteers.
